Who can get The Indiana Gazette Online?

The Indiana Gazette Online edition is a FREE addition to the printed copy of The Indiana Gazette. You can get Online access to the newspaper only if you are a paid subscriber. If you are out of the regular delivery area, you can receive the paper with a mail subscription or with our online-only edition package. You must receive the regular printed edition if you are in our delivery area. If you are not a paid subscriber and would like to become one, click on the Subscribe button below.

How do I get online access if I'm a paid subscriber?

To activate your account, you will need a copy of your last bill with your account number, or you must call the Circulation department @ (724)465-5555 to get the account number for your subscription. Click on the Subscribers button and fill in your account number, phone number and e-mail address. You will receive your username and password automatically in your e-mail. The autoresponse from our servers usually takes only a few seconds but may take longer if online traffic is high.

What if I have problems activating my account online?
|
Our online user information is a duplicate of our regular subscription customer list. If the information in our records is inaccurate you may have trouble activating your account. If you have trouble activating your online account automatically, please call the Circulation department @ (724)465-5555 and a customer service representative will assist you in activating your online account.

Do I need any special software to view pages?
|
There is no special software to install or buy. The only requirements to view this Web site is a cookies- and Java-enabled Web browser and Adobe Acrobat Reader, which are both free. The Web browser must be Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher or Netscape 6.0 or higher. The Adobe Reader must be 4.0 or higher. Click on the links below for free downloads of these products.

When is the online edition published?
|
Our online edition is usually published at 1:00 pm Monday-Saturday and at 6:00 am Sunday. With this exciting new technology we are able to bring you the news before it is actually printed.

How do I get started?
|
|
The first thing to do is enter your username and password into the login section and click "Log in." If you are a valid user, you will then come to the authentication page. This will log your access into our systems and start the Acrobat Reader for you. If you are prompted to download a file or open it, you do not have the Acrobat Reader installed properly. If all systems are configured properly you will enter the site and enjoy the daily edition.

How do I view the pages?
|
Once you have entered the site successfully, the daily edition will be displayed as a thumbnail image in the navigation window to the left of your browser. This window will have all the pages in the order they appear in the printed edition; you can scroll down the window to see other pages. To view the page, simply click on the thumbnail image. Your page will open in the main viewing window and can be navigated with the Adobe Acrobat tools.

How do I view past editions?
|
To view past editions click on the button in the navigation bar at the top. A menu will appear in the main window for you to select a date. Click on the date you wish to see.

How do I search the archives for specific topics?
|
To search by keyword, click on the button in the navigation bar at the top. A menu will appear in the main window for you to enter a search word. Select the number of pages to return for your search with the "Results per search" option and then click the "StartSearch" button. Your results will appear in the thumbnail navigation window on the left. It will return the number of pages you selected.
